This is an online documentation of Mateo's "homeschooling" journey for preschool.
I am resisting enrolling him to a regular school at a very young age since (1) it is very expensive here in Singapore, especially the ones that I like; (2) freedom to play whatever he chooses is important to me; (3) I think he's too young to regularly go to a class, even if it's a progressive school; and (4) I love spending time with him even if I get tired a lot.
Finally deciding to "homeschool," I have chosen not enroll to a provider (yet) nor implement a prepared curriculum made by other people for other kids. Still, I am using the curriculum guides from DepEd and Singapore's MOE. This will hopefully allow us to be on track to what he's supposed to know to be able to enroll in a regular school in the future. While doing so, I am inclined to follow a Reggio Emilia approach, building on his interests then working from there.
Documentation is important for me to give me a semblance of order in the fun but chaotic world of a preschooler. It allows me to reflect what my child knows, what interests him, and what could be a next step for him.
Mateo loves looking through his videos and pictures growing up, so I think he will like to browse through this as well. As an added bonus, this blog will hopefully allow us to keep in touch with family and friends.
